Since October 1998, he has headed the chorus of the Bulgarian National Radio. His recordings include Lohengrin, Tosca, Nabucco, the Mozart Requiem, as well as operatic recitals by Darina Takova, Nikola Gjuzelev and Kaludi Kaludov.
For the music fund of the National Radio, Metodi Matakiev has contributed recordings of many arias, ensembles, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, choruses from operas and a cappella works. His repertory consists of 25 operas as well as cantatas, oratorios and symphonies. He has extensively toured Europe and the USA. He taught choral conducting in the National Music Academy (1977-1988), and in the summer of 2002, he taught a course in operatic conducting in Karlovi Vari in the Czech Republic. In 2001 he received the Crystal Lira Award of the National Music Practitioners Union for Excellence in Conducting. |
